A History of the CICWorking with a university is a proven catalyst for innovation, providing companies with access to invaluable skills, knowledge, ideas and facilities. The Engineering Design CIC was set up specifically to promote these productive partnerships. Yorkshire Forward was the first Regional Development Agency to establish a network of Centres of Industrial Collaboration (CIC), an initiative to establish a world-class scientific, technical and research resource for industry. Yorkshire and Humber's universities spend more on research - £250m a year - than anywhere else outside of London and the south-east, and have produced more spin-out companies than any other region. CICs now collaborate with industry, offering services on a commercial basis. The knowledge, expertise, skills and physical assets of the centres are used to solve companies' technical, design, product development, production or other problems. www.yorkshirecic.com supported by |
